Nigel qualified as a solicitor in 1981 and spent the last nine years of his 30+ years in private practice as Managing Partner and then CEO of a successful regional law firm.
Nigel is a former Chair of the Law Management Section of the Law Society, editor of the same Section’s Merger Toolkit, joint editor (with Andrew Otterburn) of The Law Management Section Guide to Business Development and an alumnus of Harvard Business School’s Leading Professional Service Firms course.
Haddon Consult is a management consultancy focused on three things:
- providing guidance, constructive challenge and support to leadership teams;
- pricing; and
- mergers and acquisitions.
For the first, Nigel works as a ‘critical friend’ or Non Executive Director, or on ad hoc basis.
In pricing, Nigel has worked with about 100 firms, both lawyers and accountants, and worked or spoken in ten jurisdictions. Nigel teaches Pricing at Masters level for The College of Law, Australia. Nigel is widely published in this field, including various Law Society publications.
Nigel’s practical experience of law firm mergers resulted in him being invited to edit the Merger Toolkit referred to above, and he has continued to work in that field in collaboration with lawyer and accountant colleagues in Mosaic Legal.
