In recent years one of the areas of uncertainty facing many firms has been the choice of business structure.

Options include:

• a traditional partnership
• LLP
• limited company
• alternative business structure.

The question has often been driven by tax and over the years some relatively complex structures have evolved.  In some of these cases, the real business justification has been difficult to ascertain.

Most firms are likely to turn to their accountants for guidance however in many cases the accountants themselves will have relatively little experience of the issues.
